Job description

Umiak Outdoor Outfitters is looking for a store manager at our Stowe, VT outdoor retail location. The candidate should be a well-organized individual who has extensive knowledge of the products we carry and an understanding of the retail operation as a whole. They should have excellent customer service skills, internally and externally. They should be a self-motivated, goal-oriented individual who will support the retail sales associates. They will also lead by example, always creating a positive work environment. Having a passion for paddlesport and snowports will be essential. 

Previous retail/sales experience and customer service required

​Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately

  • Required to gain an extensive knowledge of Umiak products, activities, and the surrounding area

  • Provide sales floor coverage

  • Manage daily operations

  • Open and close point-of-sale system

  • Make transactions on a point-of-sale system

  • Manage inventory

  • Educate customers on products, brands, and accessories

  • Help customers find the appropriate equipment for their needs

  • Stock and inventory merchandise

All candidates should be upbeat, outgoing, and passionate about the outdoors.  Canoe, kayak, and standup paddle experience would be helpful but not required. This is a seasonal, part-time position, with year-round potential. 3 or 4 days a week with some weekends. The salary will be based on experience. Umiak Outfitters is an equal-opportunity employer.

Umiak Outdoor Outfitters is looking to expand our booming program department to our seasonal store in Richmond. We are looking for a hardworking and detail-oriented person for this full-time seasonal position.  This fast-paced position would oversee and run our expanded river programming and summer boat rentals. An ideal candidate would be willing to be cross-trained in retail and work the extent of the summer season.   
Job Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee our expanding programming   

  • Use a point-of-sale system to make reservations   

  • Run tubing shuttles on the Winooski River   

  • Maintain company vehicles     

  • Rent boats and educate/aid customers on proper use and transportation   

  •  Back up retail staff when needed   

  • Educate customers on opportunities around them in regard to boating/tubing in the area
