Embracing the Transition: From Summer Adventures to Winter Dreams

Yesterday was a day to call in sick to work. After a week of chilly, cloudy, and rainy weather, the sun came out with a high in the 50s. The drysuit hangs waiting, the fleece is there in a pile, it was a rare fair day to soak the canoe.

Alas, duty called. There was much to be done to bring skis and snowshoes out from storage to display on the wall. There is snow on the mountains, and those November days of expectation are back. Grey clouds and colder temperatures bring thoughts of white powder dreams back again.

It’s the duality of the season. The water isn’t frozen. There isn’t enough snow to use. The boat is still out. The skis are in the rafters. What is there to do? Which way to turn?

The inevitable is upon us. Time to oil the gunwales, mothball the canoes, and exchange paddle gear for parkas and snow pants. Put up the paddles and take down the skis.

The store is in transition, along with the rest of us. There are skis where there once were SUPs. Microspikes have replaced Tevas. Boats are making their way to storage.

Change is good. There is opportunity in the chaos. There are great deals on canoes, kayaks, and SUPs.  Paddling accessories are 15% off. There are the new Rossignol XP 85s and 105s to check out. Deals on demo tele and AT gear.

Stop by and chat about winter or summer; we don't mind which. Stick season is slow, and we’d be glad to see you.
