Winooski River Paddling Tour

Winooski River Trip

Each tour has its own majestic character. We offer trips to suit first-time paddlers and experts alike! Paddle at your own pace and enjoy the scenery and the water. There are many places to pull your boat out of the water, eat a picnic lunch, go swimming, fishing, take photos or just soak up the sun. You can paddle a solo kayak, tandem kayak, SUP or canoe!

I can't think of anything to complain about regarding Umiak. We went on a 2-hour, 4-mile kayak trip down the Winooski River. Umiak was very friendly and communicative, telling us what to expect and bring, and where to meet. We were given an introduction to kayaking for a few minutes, then driven upriver, where we got in kayaks and then paddled back to our cars. The scenery was gorgeous.

9 Mile River Float
Upper Gorge Trip

This 9-mile trip is a more advanced section of the river with Class I/II whitewater rapids to canoe or kayak.

Winooski River,

Waterbury, Vermont

We did the Upper Gorge Kayak Trip on the Winooski yesterday with Drew as our guide. It. Was. Awesome. The weather was perfect, and the scenery was gorgeous. I loved the funky rock formations, cascades, and gorges along the first half of our route, and the rapids were so fun! Drew provided clear and informative navigation tips, gave friendly and encouraging feedback, and ensured that we all stayed safe (and hydrated!) during our trip. We will definitely be back! Thank you Umiak!!!

Winooski River,

Waterbury, Vermont

" We had such a lovely time. Elijah was our outfitter and he gave us a few tips, sent us on our way, and was there at the pull out. We were able to see a river otter, several shorebirds (blue heron) and we think a baby eaglet. There were no other boats on the river so we had it to ourselves."
